Spinister has genre whiplash. Noir may mean 'black', but this is ridiculous! Singe and Hairsplitter suddenly feel rather worried - they're flesh inside their shells!
Spinister grumps, "Not my fault," and attempts to transform to helicopter mode, where he carries his heaviest ordinance and defies gravity, but the darkness may prevent him.

Kup's attempt to cast magic missile at light the darkness on fire fails in a rather unspectacular fashion. The darkness in fact, seems to consume the flame, and not a flicker of light actually illuminates the space. Punching it and struggling against it is rather like punching through water. There is resistance, but nothing more.
Spinister can transform, though he may find it more difficult than usual for the same reason. There is a weight and substance around him, pressing upon his robot shape. He can shift to his copter shape, but it will take effort.
Abruptly, the shadow recedes, and there is a great deal more light. Dim light, but still more light then had been in the alleyway.
That is because the pair is no longer in the alleyway. They are in a smallish metal room, rust and other stains giving the walls an almost scabby quality. There's one light bulb hanging from the middle of the ceiling.
There's only one door, a heavy metal door that opens outward, no visible hinge, lock, or handle. It is currently shut.

Kup continues to struggle as best he can, despite the apparent futility. When the darkness recedes he looks around the room, snarling. "Oh, for the love of..."
He puts Singe down, then, without another word, runs full-tilt for the door, slamming into it with his shoulder. There's some resistance, but then the door gives, even more easily than he had expected.
Kup starts to fall through into the next room...

Spinister tries hard to transform. He wants his two batteries of automatic particle beam cannons and two remote control-guided fusion bombs! Spinister eventually ends up as a helicopter on the floor of the odd, dim room. He's about to open fire on the door when Kup sets Singe down and batters down the door.
Singe scrambles over to Spinister and takes his place on one of the gun platforms. Spinister doesn't see anything on thermal, but their captors might well be cold-blooded in more ways than one. There's not enough room for him to get through the door as a chopper, though, so, he just ends up transforming again as Kup goes down.
Spinister wonders if he's on drugs again.

Kup falls about two feet before he hits the ground, a ground that splashes slightly and crunches in an unsettling manner. Another dim light flickers on.
The floor of the room is covered with shards of broken glass, a good inch high layer. Atop that is a layer of liquid, about two inches which probably doesn't feel too good to Kup right now. It's a low-grade etching acid, nothing fast enough to do much to Cybertronian alloys except perhaps make them itch mightily- unless it gets into some more sensitive areas, like through a cut.
An organic- and some robot species for that matter- would have a hell of a time getting across the room without serious injury.
The door directly across from the one Kup opened creaks open slowly, brighter light showing through the opening.

Kup pushes himself up and off the floor and moves into a crouch, ready to spring again. It does itch pretty badly, but Kup's armor is pretty thick (a handy thing, considering how regularly he himself works with acid) and so he's saved from serious harm.
Good thing he put Singe down before he charges, he supposes, although part of him is trying not to think how he could have deprived one of the more dangerous 'Cons with one of their more dangerous weapons just by making a fist.
The veteran glares out at the door opposite. Though it may be tempting to back out and get out of the acid, that'll give him less room to retreat with if something unpleasant comes through that opening door.
And Kup's betting something unpleasant's on the other side, whether it comes through or not.

Spinister peers down at Kup from the doorway, holding onto the door jamb with one hand. This is another situation where anti-gravs would be fantastic. There's some kind of mucky liquid (More drugs?) down there, which is covering... something. Broken glass?
He's not a Battle-Charger, and he doesn't think the fall is long enough for him to become a helicopter in time.
Yeah, Spinister doesn't think he's just going to jump down there, thanks. Instead, he combines Singe and Hairsplitter and holds them with his free hand, still clutching the door jamb with his other, and he looks toward that slowly opening door, sliding his finger through the trigger and taking aim.

The door continues to swing until the doorway is fully open. A much brighter light than is in either of the two rooms previous.
Nothing comes through the door.
The open door yawns, perhaps inviting, perhaps not. It all depends n the point of view of the person on the other side of the room.
Perhaps Kup and Spinister are starting to understand what those brought here get put through before they wind up as grotesque crime scene photos.
There is a faint sound coming from the room ahead, like the sound of an old reel-to-reel projector.

Kup straightens up, then looks down, expression thoughtful. He rubs his chin, unconsciously getting more etching acid on his face.
"Y'know what I'm thinkin', Spinister?"
"I'm thinkin' that following this retrorat's maze through the way whoever's wanting us to is a good way to end up dead."
"I'm also wondering just how strong these floors are."

Spinister does not know what Kup is thinking. Spinister is not, despite what Starscream once wanted, Soundwave.
Being a typical Decepticon, when an Autobot is thinking about going to ground, Spinister instead has his eyes to the sky, staring up at the ceiling thoughtfully. He does point out, voice silted and morbid, "We can be moved against our will."
If they go off the course, those shadows can just pick them up and put them back on the 'track'. However, fatalism is for Dead End. He moves his aim from the door slowly and deliberately up to the ceiling and then down to the muck Kup's in, tilting his head to the side. Well, does Kup want a super-charged laser shot the floor or to the ceiling? The fusion bombs and particle beam cannons are better for blowing massive holes in things, but he can't use those as a robot, and Hairsplitter supercharged by Singe isn't bad.

The floors aren't reinforced in anyway, nor are the walls or ceilings. They are, however, thick metal walls, and metal floors over concrete slab. Nothing that the duo couldn't break through, if they wanted.
Of course, they don't know what's in the room below. It could be another room, or an incinerator for all they know. True, they don't know what's waiting beyond that open doorway, but what little can be seen from Kup's position indicates an empty room.
A flat, soft probably male voice comes from...somewhere.
"Do what you like. But you only have 'til sunrise to find the girl, and the more off the path you go, the harder finding her becomes."

Kup looks at where Spinister is gesturing to, absently brushing the sleeve on his left arm with his right hand. He's a bit too distracted to really notice how badly the acid is tearing into his clothes, but he'll definitely have to replace them later.
He lifts his hand, about to point down when the voice starts.
Kup lip pulls back into a snarl, and he makes a quiet rumbling, almost a growl. He lowers his hand and, brows knitted in anger, draws his musket from subspace and stomps across the acid bath towards the next room.
Damn it all. So he's letting himself be maneuvered into the bloody game. But his priority is the girl. His priority's got to be the girl. Even if that's not what he's getting paid for, he'll get that girl out of here alive.

Spinister guess he's going to have to get his feet wet, since Kup is being a sap. He lands lightly, and he's being very careful about not getting any of that... etching acid? on his previous wounds. Very careful.
Then, he starts to slog through the mess. He'll let Kup go in first, just to be sure, but he's not going to spend too much time in this mess if Kup dawdles.

The other room is another metal box of a room. This one was once white, but is now more of a dingy yellow. There's dried blood and other fluids leading from the doorway to various areas, the same types of fluids staining various parts of the walls, as if someone had stumbled in and fell against the first wall they could reach. The blood is more prevalent than the oils and such, but it does seem as if some mechanoid or hybrid species have been through this game before.
There is not an immediately apparent door. However, there are a few blood trails that just seem to end at a section of the wall.
That hidden projector starts to run as soon as they are both in the room. Against one wall plays a gritty Super 8 reel of an old man, obvious injured, being rather brutally vivisected.
That same soft, flat voice speaks again, "This is normally where I tell the trash what is going to happen to them, and they beg, and then I tell them if they find their way out by sunrise, the get to live."
"No one ever does."
"But in your case, this is what will definitely happen to the girl if you don't find her before then. What happens to you two remains to be seen. Good luck or goodbye."
A section of the wall swings open.

Kup looks up at the screen, fists clenched. He feels like telling that voice that what's on the screen isn't nothing to what whoever's going to go through when Kup finds him, but Kup... knows he can't. Not that. Not even to someone who so clearly deserves it.
So he just snarls and bolts through the door, growling, "I hate this slaggin' planet."
