Rodimus offers the others a wry smile. "If you don't think my transforming disqualified me," he answers, returning to vehicle mode. His engine revs in anticpation.
It's not really what he wants to do, but he has to give the impression to all those on the field that things are returning to what passes for normal.

Normal can have very different definitions to different people. Firebolt looks back over to the course and then bounces just a bit and races off, drivin cos it's the thing she was meant to do. Well, sorta.
There's probably some really cool looking sort of driving here, but Firebolt doesn't act like she's cool, just acts like she's being 'normal'.

"I don't think it would, since you didn't use it to help you get through the course. If anything, you're worse off because of it since you have to rerun part of the course," Sideburn replies.
The blue Viper slowly edges off the slicked part of the road, then hits his accelerator with a whoop. Those paying attention may note that his whoop isn't as loud as it would have been before the alien broadcast, nor is he accelerating quite as fast as he did at the beginning of the course.

Rodimus doesn't have to re-run part of the course. He was on the other side of the series of walls when he skidded to a stop a transformed, and he's still on that side. The only real problem is that he's lost momentum.
He doesn't point this out, though.
What he does do is start off. The others will be through that series of walls and catching up with him quickly enough, after all. He turns a corner in the road tightly, and finds himself launched rather suddenly into the air before he comes down hard on his tires. Luckily, he can take a beating.
Ah, okay. A series of 'speed bumps,' so to speak, of varying sizes. One can take them quickly, if one's willing to take being thrown into the air and landing hard repeatedly. Rodimus is, and he rolls, rumbles, and bounces over the thing, hardly losing stride.

Sideburn enters the walled area and speeds around them as quickly as he can while keeping his cornering ability. It's not long before he's past the walls and taking the corner that Rodimus had re-started at. The first "speed bump" takes him by surprise and he goes sailing over it, and gives a sharp cry of pain when he lands. Sports cars are not built to handle jumps like those. He immediately hits the brakes and slows down before he goes flying again.
OOC: Skipping Firebolt due to timeout.

Rodimus has a minor lead at the start, and he keeps it over the speedbumps, but pretty much as soon as Sideburn clears the bumps, he passes the Prime.
//Be on the alert for the next obstacle!// Rodimus warns over the radio. At the speed Sideburn's going, the wrong kind could be real trouble.
OOC: Around the next bend is a pit trap. However, unlike the ones in the Quickswitch course, which have ropes dangling over them, this one has a ramp high enough that with enough speed, you should be able to clear it.

"Pfftt offroading," Firebolt mutters as she bounces around over the speed bumps, scraping her undercarrage. She winces but tries to keep going, knowing it's mostly a race to get to the end. And races? They're fun.
Glancing to the side, she can see that Sideburn is just about as fond of the bumps as she is. "We're totally the wrong type for this thing," she laughs as she catches up to him and slightly tails him, trying to keep the speed he has.
And then she eeps very loudly upon seeing the ramp. "Roddy, Roddy oh noes!!" she half calls out, not knowing what else to do.

Sideburn lets out a whoop as he passes the Prime, taking the corner hard. As soon as he spots the ramp he floors his accelerator. There's no way of knowing what's behind the ramp or how far he'll need to jump, so every bit of speed is an advantage.
"Faster!" he calls to Firebolt. And then he's over the ramp and sailing through the air... He lets out another whoop of excitement, only to wince internally again as he lands and his undercarriage scrapes the road beyond the pit. He had let off the accelerator during the jump so he doesn't shoot off at top speed as soon as he has traction again, but he's still got most of his momentum.

"He's right!" Rodimus shouts ahead to Firebolt. "The faster you're going, the better chance you have of clearing that jump!" And he demonstrates by pouring on the speed himself, though he still stays behind Firebolt.
OOC: A decent stretch, several tight curves, and then a patch of no road at all for a short distance is what's ahead.

"Aaah Zoom-Zoom!" She says, and there's the wonderful purr of an Italian Built engine in response. But she's not worried about her speed, she's more worried about the annoying pain that'll come up later. Toughing it up, she hits the ramp and sails over, skidding as she lands and swerving a bit back and forth before gaining control.
"OW OW OW OW OWWWIIIEEEEE!!!" And also whining in pain.

"Whoo!" It's not long before Sideburn hits the curves, and he takes them fast. He swerves around them, just barely hanging onto the control. "This is supposed to be training? This is fun!"

Rodimus is the last to the ramp, and he takes it at full speed, clearing the pit and landing heavily on the other side. Even Hot Rod was more capable of off-roading than his body-styling would suggest, and the Prime handles the hard landing easily, off again in an instant once his heavy tires have finished denting the road surface.
"I wouldn't let Kup hear you saying that!" he shouts ahead playfully. "Believe me, he'll find some way to make sure it's unfun next time!"
Well, at least his Kup would have.

Mumblegrumble. FUN. Fun wasn't supposed to scratch paint jobs and make undercarriages get all hurty.
While she follows along, she plots a way to make training more 'fun,' which could be less bumps and more things like a race course. But where a smooth road will be found is beyond her.

"He should talk to my brother, then," Sideburn replies. "Then we'd really be in trouble." Because Prowl knew exactly how to make things un-fun for Sideburn. By this time he's plowed off the end of the road into grill-high grass. It's relatively smooth for offroading... until one tire dips into some soft ground. He yelps and jerks to the side and out of the mud, but then the other front tire hits a decent-sized rock hidden in the grass. "Uh oh... Just got un-fun!"
Now Sideburn's forced to slow down, carefully picking his way through the various spots inherent and hidden in a grassy field.

Rodimus takes the turns easily enough, but by this point he's well behind the others. The one advantage he has is that he won't have to slow down for off-road bits.
//Kup likes off-roading. He's built for it, and thinks that any 'Bot that goes through battle should be able to drive through it, so you can expect more things along those lines up ahead.//
Of course, what he doesn't see yet is that there's another area of obstacles that have to be swerved around. These aren't walls like the ones before were, and they can be driven over, but doing so is likely to be painful: they're rows of tire-spikes. If they're spotted in time, a well-handing vehicle should be able to get around them, but they're low enough to the ground that they might not be seen in time...
