Duskwing-3 flew low over the forest, trying to figure out where he was supposed to report to and to whom. He'd heard the announcement--the Boss had found those weird nice Autobots and was talking alliance with them; he just didn't know where he was supposed to go.
No one had actually given him an order to report to a specific place or person, and when he'd asked, Duskwing had never gotten a firm answer. Apparently it had been left up to him to figure out from the General Orders to everyone--which sent a variety of people to different locations.
That had been a mistake. Duskwing's talent for deductive reasoning was... feeble.
He had a vague notion that Starscream was up north in the woods somewhere, and that he ought to report to him in absence of other orders. Duskwing also thought that they were supposed to hide from their own evil Autobots and the other Decepticons, so he flew low and maintained radio silence.
Strange trees reached for his wings but just missed them as he skimmed the treetops; the occasional flock of.. things with wings howled and flapped away in an explosion of iridescent plumage. That some of the fliers had four wings and no legs was a detail that escaped the mechanically-oriented Decepticon.
Aha! There it was, a clearing in the forest surrounding a curious open-air structure. Duskwing rolled into his transform and landed, feet swinging slightly forward to touch down first.
He looked around at the silent forest. "Hey! Anybody dere?"

Makeshift, on the other hand, knows where the meeting is. He just didn't quite feel ready to be surrounded by Decepticons, even supposedly nice ones. So, with the pretense of keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, the Mini-con had taken off for a little air.
Of course, having his usual luck, Makeshift spots an incoming Seeker transforming and landing. Last he knew, Oracle wasn't out here, and he hadn't heard of any of their new allies out on patrol. Things could've changed, but better not to take chances. Makeshift drops below the canopy level, transforming and landing on a branch a few meters higher than the Seeker's head level. His normal blue is probably dark enough to not stick out like a sore thumb, but his red (and his recent repairs, still unpainted) isn't all that difficult to spot.
He raises his finger guns, not quite aiming at the Seeker, but close enough for an easy shot if necessary. After the Con finishes yelling out, Makeshift broadcasts over the allied shortwave. //This is Makeshift. Please identify yourself.//

Duskwing swung his arms up sharply at the radioed response and looked around, head turning in sharp, short angles as he looked around. Something wasn't quite right about one of those trees--it had some weird colored fruit with angles. He tilted his head slightly, optics narrowed.
"Who's there?" he yelled.
// Dis is Duskwing. How'd you know I was out... uh, somewhere? Where y'at? // he replied, voice suspicious.

Makeshift relaxes only slightly as Duskwing IDs himself. He lowers one arm and waves with the other. "Didn't know you were here, I was just out on patrol." Well, technically, anyway.
The Mini-con jumps down, firing his boosters at the last second for a softer landing. If Duskwing has heard about Mini-cons at all, the simple fact that one is talking and moving around on its own should be proof enough that this isn't one from the other side.
"So....." How do you break the ice with a guy bearing a symbol you've associated with everything you've ever opposed? "....What's up?"

Duskwing stared blankly as the odd fruit jumped down and resolved itself into a very tiny Transformer. Then he glared at it suspiciously for a while, optics widening as a certain realization worked through his CPU. Slowly.
"Hey.... you're the guy on the radio!" Duskwing gave Makeshift a puzzled look, not quite a frown. "You're really small. You one of them Micro-con thingies like Holi?"
Yes, Duskwing glanced at the sky when Makeshift asked 'What's up?' He looked back, suspicious again. "Is that a trick question? I dunno the passphrase if it is."

Makeshift blinks. "You've, uh, never been to Earth, have you?" Technically, neither has Makeshift, but they could monitor it a little from the moon base, and he talked a little with some of the Earth-bound Mini-cons before everything fell apart. "Sorry, it's a figure of speech. It's a way of asking how things are going."
"And I'm a Mini-con. Seems like the same basic idea, but from another reality." Like he's gonna be the first to bring up powerlinking to a Decepticon. "I guess there aren't any of us on your side, then?"

Duskwing looked indignant. "Of course I've been to Earth! I was with Megatron!" He slouched a bit. "Then they sent me back to Cybertron," he muttered.
"Huh." Duskwing pondered that. "Um, going fine. Do you know where the Boss is? I'm supposed to report to him, I think, and I thought he was here."
"We got Predacons, which are little shrimps like you. Dat count?" Duskwing asked, pointing one finger at Makeshift.

Makeshift is quickly getting the impression that this guy's not too bright.
"They're meeting up at an old arena. I could show you the way." He could just give Duskwing the coordinates, but he's not quite ready to trust a Con yet.
"Predacons? Do they include a spider femme?" This is, perhaps, not the best place (or the best person) to explain the "Con doesn't mean evil" bit.

When it came to bright, Duskwing was a 5-watt bulb. On a dimmer switch. Set on low.
Duskwing thought Makeshift's offer over for a moment, then nodded. " 'kay. Do that."
He stared down at Makeshift, a puzzled frown on his face as if he were working out some complex problem; then he transformed into jet mode and raised his canopy. "You can pilot. Don't figure a little guy like you could keep up, but youse the right size to ride."
"Yeah, dat's Bla--Blac--Spiderlady. She got a long name, never can remember it."

Hey, there's no reason to insult 5-watt bulbs on dimmer switches set to low, here.
Makeshift hesitates. Partly, it's because he's broad-shouldered for his size, not to mention the tail on his back, but mostly it's the thought of willingly climbing into a Decepticon's cockpit. Duskwing has a point; Makeshift can't possibly keep up with a Seeker moving at speed. Something about this just goes against the grain, though.
The Mini-con finds himself looking down at his hands. At the gun barrels stuck to his fingers. Then again, the way Seekers transform, their heads are usually in front of the cockpit. From inside, unless Duskwing had thought to specifically armor the inside, he'd have an easy shot, and he could probably knock the cockpit open if he has to.
Screwing up his courage, Makeshift climbs up, stepping into Duskwing's cockpit and maneuvering himself awkwardly into the seat. "You should probably do the piloting. My hands aren't all that dexterous, I'd rather not accidentally break something. Fly [arbitrary direction towards the arena]."
"Blackarachnia. I had a run-in with our version of her during the big battle."

Duskwing actually was rather trusting. "The Boss" said these Autobots were friends, so they're friends. Besides, he controls the ejector seat...
"Uh... okay. I'd rather youse not break nothin', too." Duskwing replied. His engines spun up from a mere scream through demonic shrieking to banshee howl as he lifted off the ground, hovering like a Harrier.
"Ain't these lifters cool? Let me fly like dat other Aerialbot, Fireflight. He ain't the one that's here, though. The Boss's universe all got 'em, and they upgraded the rest of us what didn't. See, I don't need a runway to take off in jet mode now!" Once above the treetops, he opened his throttle and thundered away, just skimming the trees.
"How far do I go this way?" Duskwing asked through his cockpit speakers. "Is dat the ocean?"

"Not that far. It's about [distance to the arena]." Exact measurements are for chumps. "Big domed building with some smaller buildings around it, you can't miss it."
"That is a pretty nice upgrade. Wonder if maybe, if things turn out all right, we might be able to share the tech." Being able to hover would sure make conversations easier. Nobody would have to strain their necks looking down around their ankles. "Might be tough to shrink down to my scale, though."

"Oh yeah? Yeah, okay, I think I see it," Duskwing said, a bit of excitement in his tone; he banked sharply and circled.
"I dunno. Have to ask the Boss. He's the one that knows the tech, him or Hook, and Hook got grabbed by the Bots," Duskwing replied uncertainly after several minutes of mystified silence.
He finally spotted a clear spot and pulled his nose up, slowing down into a hover, then touched down to ground in jet form. "Dis da place?"
// Duskwing reporting for duty, // he added in low-power Alliance band, a bit belatedly.

"Maybe I'll ask about it later, then," Makeshift replies. Or maybe he'll just mention it to someone bigger, who's less likely to get grabbed for use as a battery.
"Yep, this it the place." Makeshift waits until Duskwing lands and opens his cockpit, then hops out. If the Seeker lets him, he intends to hitch a ride on a shoulder, just to make any further talking easier; he seems like a nice enough guy, for a Decepticon. Not to mention, it's hard to keep up when the other guy takes one step to your seven or so. //Makeshift, also reporting.//

//Fleetwind speaking,// the Seeker's confident voice comes over at low power. //South entrance, and be quick. Trying to minimize topside exposure, after all!//
OOC: Fleetwind is in the thread, but won't be 'visible' until Duskwing lands.
