Event Horizon Room #18. Month 1, Week 3, Day 4. Semi-private.
Slider leaned back in his berth and absently rubbed his optic shields in pain. He'd been compiling information so he could give a decent database report to Perceptor concerning his Cybertron's energon and the properties of the energon repair beam. Frankly there wasn't much to go on. He wasn't a scientist and never downloaded the beam, so there was nothing he could really offer other than some visuals of the two at work on other bots.
The visuals has, of course, turned his mind to the mechs they depicted, squad-mates that were dead and gone. Although he couldn't have said that he was particularly close to any of them, being outside of a communal, 50 'bot barracks, made him realize just how lonely he was beginning to get.
As his optics opened again he looked at his other two roommates, surprisingly enough not out doing their own things. As he watched Cheetor and Drift, he realized that the quiet in the room wasn't going to help any. So the Spotter gathered up his nerve and stood up from his berth.
"I think we should go somewhere and get some energon," Slider blurted out, awkwardly and suddenly.
"I mean I have some spare rations, and we should get to know each other," he quickly added, his voice dwindling away as he spoke, "Because we don't, and we'll be here for a long time, so it might be... nice... to hang out..."

Drift was sitting on his berth, most likely glowering. He was trying to not think about all the things he was thinking about: how he got here, how he'd get back, how he'd ever repay Wing for all that he had taught him, everything he'd lost, all those missed opportunities, lost chances, some cherry blossoms floating past and...how he'd blown his start here. Alienated just about everyone.
Don't care, he thought. But even he knew that was a lie.
He jumped when Slider spoke, one hand flying to a sword hilt. If he were any higher-strung he'd be pinging. (He probably was). But under Slider's words, he heard that timid desire, the want to actually fit in, know someone.
Stupid, he thought. Get to know a mech and sure as slag he'll just end up dying on you.
But still.
He straightened up, swiping his guilty hand over his dark thigh, as if wiping away his nervous twitch. "Yeah," he said. "Probably a good idea."
...if he hasn't already screwed it up.
((edited because lol I know verb tenses, really! *facepalm*))

Cheetor was being lazy, as cats are wont to do, curled up on his berth in beast mode, tail flopping around a bit.
Slider's blurt drags him out of lethargy, and he looks at the other two. He's confused for the moment, but that soon passes. He rises after a stretch, then hops off the berth and follows after the others, assuming they start heading out. "Sure, sounds like a plan."
Cheetor wonders how he got put in a room with a shy guy and Twitchy McGlareson - this should prove interesting to say the least...

"Good... Great," Slider's eyes said as much as they brightened and he relaxed a little. Drift was right, Slider was high strung. There was no manual for learning how to get along with fellow soldiers. He half expected to be turned down actually with excuses of early assignment shifts or general disinterest.
"I was thinking that we could grab some energon down at the mess and then watch a movie."
Even as he said it, Slider seemed to instinctively know that his whole plan seemed flat. Really he'd only planned as far as getting them to agree to come with him. Taking the initiative, however, Slider opened the floor to more options.
"I mean, if you guys want to. If there's something else you'd rather do, then I'm up for it."

Slider's plan is still better than anything Drift could come up with: stab something, marinate in angst, marinate in angst about stabbing something, etc. Kind of a limited palette and sort of hard to get anyone else in on.
"Not much else to do around here," he said, which was supposed to sound a bit more positive than it came out. Note to self, Drift. Say as little as possible, and maybe then you won't keep saying STUPID THINGS.
Or, more likely, the stupid will just be concentrated into fewer words.

Cheetor looks up toward Slider. "Sounds good", he says, then turns to Drift. "There's more than seems at first glance, but quite frankly, I'm happy to have the peace. Been a long time since I could just kick back and relax without having to be on guard all the time from attack." Cheetor pauses. "Granted, we're not completely out of the woods, but it's step up from what I'm used to."
He shrugs a bit as Slider opens the floor with other options. "I'm not picky." Most of the entertainment he got back on Earth was going on runs or watching Rattrap and Dinobot get snippy with each other.

"All right, the mess hall it is."
Slider opened the door and took the lead down the hall. It wasn't to say that he was so excited to be doing something with anyone that he had to race out. He was, but that was beside the point. It was force of habit mostly. Spotters took point and kept and optic and audial out for problems. Laser bait in other words. He almost couldn't help walking a few feet ahead of them and talking back over his shoulder.
"I know what you mean," he said back to Cheetor, his tension easing as he fell into a familiar task, "I thought that without the Decepticons trying to beat our heads in every cycle that I wouldn't know what to do with myself."
And Slider still didn't, but he was trying.

"Kick back and relax," Drift echoed, looking at Cheetor as though he were just...slightly insane. "Peace doesn't mean anything unless you've earned it."
Which is to say that, like Slider, Drift had no idea what to do with himself without a battle.
Which he'd say to Slider, but the mech made him twitchy. What was with these Autobots and wanting to take point? Which meant, of course, Drift dropped to the rear. At least Slider seemed to take the opportunity to stay in form, not get sloppy.

Cheetor frowns at Drift. "We had peace. Maximals and Predacons were getting along just fine, until Megatron made a move. Then the crew I was on got pegged to go after him, since we were closest." The feline shrugs. "After all my crew went through on Earth, and back on Cybertron...and what we all just went through a few weeks ago, I'm of the mind that some peace has definitely been earned."
A sigh leaves him, and his tone turns to dry amusement. "Slag of a way for things to go - show up here one day, next day everything goes to the pit."

A few days ago the thought of peace would have been doubtful to Slider given the near multiversal constant of warfare. But he'd read up on Cheetor's reality before trying to plan this little get together. Even if it was brief, Slider wasn't ashamed to admit that he would have loved to have been created during that time despite not having anything constructive to do.
A few twists and turns later Slider arrived at the mess. Thankfully it seemed to be mostly abandoned, not that Slider would have minded some additional company, but this was a get together for the three of them.
"So are there any energon variations you guys like?"

"Then obviously they weren't 'getting along just fine'," Drift said, cocking his head at Cheetor's back. "Otherwise one idiot's actions would just be ignored." If everyone was so spiffy-happy, Megatron's whatever wouldn't have gained any traction.
"Things have always been in the Pit for some of us. Sorry it's so distressing for you." Wow, Drift, how bout throttling down on that charm?
He was almost glad when Slider led them into a mess. Maybe something to put in his mouth other than his footplate?

Cheetor rears back on his hind legs, transforming as he follows Slider. "Never really got much into trying variants myself, but I'd be open to trying some stuff."
He cuts a look back at Drift, though. "That wasn't what I was getting at, slag it." He wants to say more, but doing so probably isn't wise. Granted, Cheetor isn't known for being wise, so this resolve may be wafer-thin. Depends on how things go from here...

"I was asking because I don't know any..." Slider says weakly as he grabs three standard cubes.
He stops and just watches Cheetor's transformation for a moment. The glow and the fluid, growth-like movement of the limbs. It wasn't something he thought he'd ever get used to. But he was learning, that's what he was here for. And from the sound of things it sounded like Drift needed a touch of learning as well.
"I read some of the files in the database, and it didn't seem like there were a whole lot of Predacons that wanted to undo everything. It seemed like it was the crew of one or two ships. Sometimes it takes just one madman to destroy everything. That's how it seems to me anyway."
Suddenly realizing he was going off on a tangent, Slider quickly and nervously grabbed a chair and sat. He motioned the others to do the same. Maybe it was better to change the subject.
"So, uh, lets tell each other a little about ourselves. Why don't you start Drift?"

"And sometimes it takes a hopelessly corrupt society ignoring anyone not rich enough to get a seat in the Senate," he retorted.
Why doesn't Drift start? Oh, let's just count the ways. Starting with former Decepticon? Seconding with...it's DRIFT.
He took his cube, staring sourly at it for a long moment. "Yeah. That's...uh..pretty much how the war started where I was from." Maybe they wouldn't ask, you know, what side he was on.

Cheetor nods at Slider. "Yeah. One madman with a transwarp drive and knowledge meant to be sealed up can muck up a lot."
The Maximal takes a seat nearby Slider - one suited for those of Cheetor's height, or lack thereof. He takes a small swig of the cube. Been a while since he's been around energon that wasn't violently unstable.
A browridge raises at Drift's short answer, and he chuckles. "That all? C'mon now, don't be shy."
