Perceptor's frown returns and deepens as he examines the damage. Granted, it had been Ratchet who had been responsible for most of Skyfire's repairs back in those days, Perceptor had assisted often enough for the image to resonate uncomfortably. "Why have we not shielded this area better?" he mutters to himself as he sets about reinforcing the repair, making it less a patch and something more solid and durable.
Of course, he already knows the answer to his own question: it would impinge upon too many other systems for the bulk of shielding that would be required to protect Skyfire from exactly this attack again. That does not mean that he has to enjoy that prospect, though.
While fetching another bit of sheathing for the splice, Perceptor carefully leans over to scoop Spy Shot up and move him over to the small table where his own tools are arrayed, both so that the curious little bot can see better, and also to get a closer look, however brief, at the tiny camera's injuries. Nothing immediately life-threatening, which is a relief.
"Odd?" Perceptor asks, glancing over at Breakaway with a faintly haunted frown. Until that fateful battle, no, Perceptor had gotten rather accustomed to no one dying in battle. From what Kup had told him, though, those days of dramatic-but-fatality-free conflict are long passed.
He looks away sharply, returning his attention to finishing up sealing that splice to his own rigorous satisfaction. "I, for one, shall not look askance at any gifts fate sees fit to grant us."
ooc: moving Spy Shot done with permission.

Skyfire looks faintly surprised, not realizing Perceptor already knows the answer to his own question, and not expecting that Perceptor would ask that question. "Weight, of course. I can't afford armor without sacrificing range, speed and maneuverability."
"Oh?" Skyfire looks more surprised at Breakaway. "It's been my experience that small arms fire is more disabling than destroying. It's very hard to kill our sort of lifeform without a very lucky shot, or massive damage."

"You're not the only one," Slider added as Breakaway talked about their impossible survival rate. Slider had almost expected to die as well, given the mistakes he'd made during the fight with Starscream. He also expected to be mourning Clipper if his shots had connected...

The inside of Skyfire's chest may be interesting, but nowhere near as interesting as the inside of Powerglide's.
"I'm not looking askance, Perceptor. I'm glad no-one died. It's just . . . back home, people died in combat. Good people. People who knew what they were doing. Megatron ripped Jazz in half. Optimus pretty much left a trail of dead Decepticons wherever he went. Heck, I've lost count of the drones I've killed with a single headshot. The 'Cons used to hang the bodies of the fallen from spires . . ." Breakaway trails off. " . . . I just can't believe we're all that lucky, I guess. It makes me feel like we're all living on borrowed time."

"Geez, jolly-jets," Whirligig says to Breakaway. "Makes me glad I blew up before any of that went down."
"But we're totally living on borrowed time!" He'll just imagine himself gesticulating wildly, since he can't actually do it. That's totally just the same. Bleh. "Some of us, anyway. I mean, what else do you call it when there's folks alive here that'd be dead back where they came from?" He imagines crossing his arms behind his head. "Me, I took out my loan before I got here."

Spy Shot is interested in the insides of everyone's chests, glowing lights in the shape of hearts or no.
"Thank you," he says to Perceptor, appreciating the change of view. He takes the opportunity to ogle Skyfire's innards.
Spy Shot's most obvious injury is his partially severed arm. Some of the connections reattached while he slept, but for the moment it remains limp and dead. Cracks in his main lens are the only thing that belies the damage to his own innards, his plastic casing having sealed over his railgun wounds.

Whoops, sorry, had bad damage rolls. But hey, a TMII Mutation is a rare sight in a medical ward.
The door slides open and Ramulus trudges in. He looks slimmer but he won't be recommending this crash diet to anyone.
His entire body is covered in scorch, dried fluids and slime. The dried fluid is his own, crusted up from the battle he barged into. The slime is the fabrication of his self-repair systems on the locations where organic parts should've been.. some are missing pieces up to ten centimeters thick, never mind missing an entire calf.
He's carrying a bowl filled with slime and chunks of salvaged TMII meat. While he's sure they aren't vital to his repairs... he simply doesn't know where to leave them. He's looking a bit confused about being here.

Perceptor nods absently at Skyfire's explanation as he continues to proof that connector. His hands grow still at Breakaway's words, though.
"I know that good mechs die in war," he offers quietly. He doesn't want to think about that, though. He's tired of thinking about that, about his lost friends, about Optimus, about all of that. He forces a smile, a bit hollow and thin, but a smile, even if it doesn't really reach his optics, as he glances back at Breakaway and adds, "But the unexpected outcome is appreciated, yes."
"There," he declares, patting the panel Skyfire has open. "Secured. I'll have a look at the other damage shortly, if that's all right, Skyfire?" After all, the big shuttle doesn't have a dangling arm like a certain--
"Ramulus?!" Perceptor exclaims, distracted from initiating triage on Spyshot by the Maximal's rather... icky entrance. For a long moment, he simply stares at all the damage, not even certain where to begin. They only have the one CR pod right now - building more is going high on the priority list now - and it is 1) occupied by Botanica, and 2) contaminated with cosmic rust.
"What do you need?" he asks brisky as he crosses over toward Ramulus.

"Breakaway, life is never guaranteed; it's all borrowed time. Even without enemies, stuff happens. I once found the ruins of a highly advanced civilization that had overcome war and the decay of age--but they could do nothing about their sun going nova one day." Skyfire looks vaguely regretful for a moment. "And then again, neither is death guaranteed. I have found lifeforms in impossible places, where you'd swear neither machine nor organic could possibly survive. Just take it as it comes."
Skyfire tries to pat Perceptor on the shoulder; the red scientist seems to be remembering some combat losses of his own, judging from his reaction to Breakaway's choice of conversation.
"It's all right," he says. "The other damage is fairly superficial and can wait--frankly, I don't need it fixed until I'm needed for EVAs or scouting. Admittedly, I like to be prepared for that sort of thing, as you never know when emergencies--"
Skyfire comes off the table when Ramulus staggers in holding parts of himself. If allowed, he'll scoop up the Maximal and deposit him on the nearest clean table. "Are techno-organic parts like organic parts? Perceptor, Ramulus, do they need to be promptly reconnected to their fuel lines to keep from deteriorating beyond repair?"

"He ripped Jazz in half?!" Slider couldn't hide his own shock at the simple statement. He knew, deep down, that it wasn't his Jazz or the one he met here. It was still tough to think of his calm and collected hero bisected.
Thankfully, relatively speaking, a wounded Maximal shambled in to distract him. There was a certain amount of squick in Slider's reaction to Ramulus. Being covered in organic fluids and those weird chunks... The stupor of a critically damaged companion was familiar enough though. It was true that they were incredibly lucky to have lost no one in the battle, but they also got their afts handed to them in some battles.

"You blew up," Breakaway deadpans to Whirligig.
He nods along as everyone expresses their views on time and the borrowing thereof. Well, he can't really nod, he sort of wiggles his head up and down slightly. He's about to respond when Ramulus walks in.
"Whoah!" The jetformer really doesn't know what to say. Asking if the Maximal is alright would be stupid, because he is clearly missing significant pieces. "Which 'Con did that?"
"He did," he says to Slider. "There are rumors that he ate his spark too, but I've never asked any of the 'bots who were actually there." Mostly because that isn't the sort of thing you ask officers, and Bumblebee isn't very talkative.

"I sure did!" Whirligig says enthusiastically to Breakaway. "I blew up real good! It was all-" He does a decent vocal imitation of a series of massive explosions. "- and took my leg clean off. Arm came off, too, but not so cleanwise." Which is why he couldn't re-attach it until he got here.
He boggles a bit at Ramulus when the Maximal joins the scene, trying to twist his neck enough to get a better look. "Scrappy, you are gooier than the inside of a recon drone! I mean, wow."

Even Spy Shot is surprised by Ramulus's appearance, and he's not one to startle easily when a commotion isn't involved. That is certainly some very dramatic looking damage! Spy Shot decides to do a point-by-point comparison between Ramulus's current look and what he has in his memory-banks while he waits.

Ramulus is here because he's tired and feels he should pay this place a visit. He doesn't object to Skyfire lifting him up to a table, instead just flops down on the berth and puts the bowl next to him. "Got in a fight with Ravage and some walking string of blades he vomited. Surely his sushi is to die for."
He focuses on Perceptor, "I suppose a CR chamber is too much to ask for? Someone to look over my repairs would be great then... my spark has its limitations..." He next motions to the bowl, "Those seem to create the same repair substance the parts on me do, but I doubt they'll be able to energize that process for long. I don't know if they're necessary for repairs or if they'll be replaced completely. Also got fire damages."
Not having a CR chamber free/clean means you can't stuff the pseudo-squishy in there. You get medically challenged.

Perceptor watches as Skyfire lifts Ramulus up to the table, trying not to fret at the handling of the damaged Maximal too much. "Ravage?" he asks, surprised for a moment, until he remembers that the Ravage here is the spikey type from Breakaway's reality, and not the smaller one he is recalling from his own world.
"We actually do have a CR chamber," he replies hesitantly. "However, Botanica is currently occupying it, and it is also contaminated with cosmic rust. I may be able to at least synthesize a batch of the chemicals that the chamber contains for you to rest more comfortably in, until we can get the chamber decontaminated for you."
He leans in to examine the bowl and it's contents, taking a small sample to analyze. "Perhaps a hybridization of the CR chamber's contents, and this... with an infusion of energon, that should solve the energizing issue. As for the tissues, I can attempt to surgically reattach them to assist your own healing processes. First, however, let me compound an analgesic. Skyfire, if you would assist me?" he asks, though it's more an order than a request, as he immediately begins rattling off chemical compounds for the shuttle/explorer to begin rounding up from their stores.
While Skyfire hopefully begins to gather the materials he will need to make the proto-CR bath, Perceptor fetches his own supply of ingredients to mix up a pain/sensor-numbing agent for Ramulus.
