Petunia shrugs as she wanders back towards the kitchen. "We spoke a little bit. Mostly he was creepy and ambiguous. He retrieved a backpack he'd left behind. Then he ran off down the stairs, so I chased him. I lost him in an alley. Esprit found me on my way back."
Hopefully her cooking supplies are still as she left them. "He jumped from a landing," she adds. "Lower than the one I jumped from, but still."

"There was jumping from landings?" Elly asks, frowning. She does up her array of locks and then hobbles back over to the couch to settle under her pile of blankets. "I am pretty sure that violates the warranty on your shocks."
She is not saying that in a manner of speaking. It's a slip. Elly still thinks like an Autobot.

OOC: Maybe timeskip to the bit with Muzzle?
Esprit makes a conscious effort to nod along at what Det. Dahlia says in an attempt to appear more like a human being and less like a murderous space robot wearing a human skin. She decides that killing Ms. Winston seems like it would be really easy, but then, she's sure the perp thought that, too. Esprit wonders what the trick to her resurrection was.

Sounds like a plan.
"I'm going to make a phone call then get back to cooking. Do you want to report this incident to anyone, Elly?" Either way Elly answers, Petunia moves off a little ways to make a phone call. Esprit and Elly can likely hear Petunia's side of the conversation.

Elly does attempt to listen in, because she is obnoxious and nosy. She goes rather pale over the mention of her kitchen knife. Seriously, if they need to be cutting people, she has a KA-BAR. (But do they need to be cutting people? Probably not.) Elly hazards, "Report it to someone? I mean... aren't you and Det. Hunt 'someone'?"
She looks from one to the other suspiciously.

Esprit nods. Sure, she's someone. She also listens along, because she is a spooky killer. She pulls out a notepad, writes something down, and tries to hand it to Det. Dahlia. It says simply, 'formal note of protest'. There, now Captain Fanzone can't yell at Esprit when Det. Dahlia ends up sending herself to the hospital from blood loss.

Petunia hangs up and tucks the phone into her pocket.
"Yeah, but the apartment company might have a formal process. But I meant, do you want me to file a formal report?" She reads Esprit's note. "I am nicking myself, not slicing my wrists, partner. The worst that can happen is I turn out to be hemophiliac."
OOC: Muzzle is free to show up.

There's a knock on the door and a gruff male voice asking if this is the right place and is anyone in. It's entirely possible that everyone here recognizes the voice, though two of them are probably used to it sounding higher-pitched. Not because the voice was any different, but they used to be taller.
When and if the door is opened, Muzzle will be there cupping his hands around his lighter as he starts a new cigarette.

Elly hobbles over, opens the door, uhms, and says, "You shouldn't do that, Muzzle. Smoking will give you cancer, and then you'll die of death, which I, personally, do not recommend. Also, you're violating apartment policies, and I'll lose my deposit when I move out if they can tell someone was smoking in here."
...maybe she shouldn't have called him Muzzle, given present company. Think, Elly, did Det. Dahlia ever actually mention his name? At least Elly did not call Muzzle 'Nightbeat's nightmare Headmaster abomination partner', which would also have been accurate. Also she probably should have hassled him more at the door. See, this is what knowing squishies does to an Autobot!
Elly looks back at the detectives and coughs, before saying, "Uh, yeah, I'll put in a complaint at the apartment office tomorrow. Guess I could call the night watchman..."

Esprit overhead 'Muzzle' when Det. Dahlia was talking. She knows of a Muzzle. Singe and Hairsplitter uncurl in the back of her head and tell her that he was a disgraced Nebulan detective. He's Nightbeat's partner, which means that Esprit has to assume that anything and everything will be overhead, down the sound of her fingers on the touchscreen of her phone. If it is him, she will have to wait to inform her husband until she is at least five miles away from his last known location.
It's him. This is problematic. Her human voice has some elements of Spinister's, but at the same time, saying nothing at all and just staring creepily is very Spinister, too.
Ms. Winston seems to know Muzzle, which pings on Esprit's radar. She decides to greet as cheerily and warmly as she can manage, "Oh, hello! You must be Muzzle. Det. Dahlia ought to invite you to some of the department functions."

Esprit is... talking to Muzzle. Esprit is talking cheerily to Muzzle. Esprit is inviting Muzzle to social functions!
Petunia doesn't know if she should ask Esprit if he's an ex or beg her partner not to have Muzzle 'resist arrest'. She settles for looking a bit like she's been hit between the eyes by a two-by-four.
"... Hi, Muzzle."

Muzzle's eyes alight on each woman in turn, narrowing when they land on Detective Hunt. "Nice to meet you," he says, holding out a hand to shake.
His P.I. sense is tingling. He can't put his finger on what, exactly, makes him nervous about this situation, but the hairs on the back of his neck are standing up. It's his instinctual reaction to not having enough information. He needs to talk to Pee-Dee and Elly when Hunt isn't there.
The Nebulan has a parcel stowed in his trenchcoat, a care package for Sentinel from Optimus Prime, but he's not pulling it out now. Not with Esprit here.
"So I take it you've both already tried to talk Officer Dahlia out of this nonsense?"

Elly is vaguely disturbed by Det. Hunt suddenly opening up. Isn't Det. Hunt married? And Muzzle is... Det. Dahlia's boyfriend. What the slag is Muzzle doing, picking up Earth babes? Elly is sure that is so illegal, and if it isn't, it should be. Cross-species miscegenation is icky!
She locks the door behind Muzzle and collapses on her couch. Elly piles blankets over herself and pulls out her cellphone to call the night watch to tell them to watch out for creepy redheads. She says absently, "Yeah, yeah. Det. Dahlia's going to void her warranty. I'm not going to argue with a woman with a gun and a nightstick."

Esprit offers her hand to shake in return. Her hand is steady. Her grip is athletic, not strong, but not particularly weak, either. She feels like she has handled many firearms. Her hand is probably just a bit warm.
She looks over her shoulder at Det. Dahlia and says, almost fondly, "Oh yeah, wrote up a formal letter of protest and all."

"Yes. She did." You know, by definitions of 'formal note of protest' and 'wrote up' that factor in how Esprit normally is. "All I'm going to do is cut my thumb open and observe the results. I am not slicing my wrists. The worst that can happen is I'm hemophiliac, and now we've got enough people here so if that happens, someone can accompany me to the hospital and someone can stay with Elly. Also, if I don't get those pies in the oven, we are never going to eat."
So saying, she wanders off in the direction of the kitchen.
