Spinister and Needlenose also beat up Nightbeat for Clues on Gillanan III.
Esprit makes a mental note of the messed up hepatic, pancreatic, and renal function. Maybe she can get Prof Sharp to make her something non lethal. Esprit's own natural gifts leans more toward the extra crispy dead side.
She says sympathetically, "You're such a survivor, though! You must have such a strong will..."

Muzzle's eyes narrow further, and his trigger finger actually literally itches. It's got to be Spinister! It all fits! It bears watching, at least.
"Listen, don't trust her," he whispers to Petunia. "And yes, I brought you a freakin' knife!" he all but shouts. Honestly, this is such a stupid idea. People cutting themselves to find out if they have superpowers. It'd be simpler to just punch her in the eye. If she doesn't get a shiner, she's a regenerator. Simple, and no-one has to play with knives.

When Muzzle shouts about the knife, "Is there such a thing as being illegally kinky? I think they might be," Elly comments to Esprit, the picture of a concerned citizen.
Then at Esprit's flattery, she all but preens, "Oh yes, that's me. Completely indomitable."

"Good." Petunia holds out her hand for the knife. Assuming Muzzle gives it to her, however grudgingly, she walks over to the sink and carefully cuts her thumb open. She stares down at what she sees for a good long while, before rinsing the blood off the knife and wiping it dry on her jeans. Then she hands it back to Muzzle hilt-first.
There's no sign of blood on her hands.

"Fifty Shades of Neon Plastic has made knife play pretty popular, I hear," Esprit replies off-handedly to Elly, "As long as everyone is consenting, without any coercion or pressuring..." and she shrugs.
But then, Esprit has been known to drug her husband and tie him to the bed. She's not the best judge of kinky.
She actually stands up and moves closer to the kitchen to watch Petunia, and Esprit comments, "Damn. You know we'd get out the nets if you were on the other side, right?"
Because when people heal that quickly, guns, tasers, tear gas, and tranqs don't really work properly.

"You know damn well it isn't anything like that!" Muzzle insists as he comes back into the living room, knife once again secreted within his voluminous trenchcoat. "She was testing if she regenerates. I thought she told you all," he gripes, fidgeting with a hand in his pocket.
Stupid Sentinel Prime being sick. He probably shouldn't start another cigarette around her, but probably-Spinister being here makes him want to chain smoke. The stick in his mouth and the cloud around his head are like armor, like the coat and fedora. They let him distance himself and think without getting emotionally involved and recalling being tortured.

"Do I," Elly says skeptically to Muzzle, eyes narrowed. People can test for regeneration in kinky fashion!
Also, she's the only one in the room without a significant other, so it's possible she's just being more of a jerk than usual out of latent jealousy.
"So, do you know how this mod - er, meta power works? What if it runs by accelerating your aging? Maybe you're actually 12 or something." Elly peers at Det. Dahlia. "Maybe you don't remember anything because you were a baby on a motorcycle, and you and your mom tragically got thrown off the motorcycle, and the crash nearly killed you and then bamphed you up to age... twenty-something?"
This is completely plausible.

Petunia blinks at Elly. Then she blinks again. Then she cocks her head. "Well, I wasn't planning to throw myself into the jaws of death to test the limits. I may be fast for little things and very slow for big things. It might feed off my life-force like you said. It might to something else equally unpleasant. It's just useful to know I have the option."
She shrugs. "You fight a little differently when you know you can recover from it, you know."
Her eyes meet Esprit's and she smiles. "Good thing I'm on your side, isn't it?"

"Don't I know it!" Esprit agrees, smiling.
Except they aren't on the same side, ultimately.

Muzzle smiles along with Esprit. They are all such good friends here.
"I never heard of a regenerator who aged liked that," he opines. "Generally they age slower, if anything, right?" He really needs to find a way to get Esprit and possibly Petunia out of here so he can talk to Elly alone.

Muzzle wants to get Elly alone? Elly does not swing that way!
The fleshy way. She is a mecha purist.
She comes up with another dumb theory, "Oh! Maybe you're like a... whatever it is. Fishsun? Gyarados? Seadramon? I dunno, one of those things, where if you cut off a piece, it turns into a new thing? So maaaybe the original motorcycle rider lost an arm... and the arm regenerated into you! And that's why you don't have any memories."
Elly means 'starfish'.

Muzzle could suggest Petunia take Esprit home! Surely, there is no way that could be the wrong decision.
Petunia blinks at Elly. "That could be possible..."
Fortunately, she is saved by the oven beeping and needing to get out the pot pies before they burn.

"Sergeant Mason is the one who would know," Esprit says helpfully, "So how about this. Since Elly and Muzzle," she beams at the both of them, "seem to be friends already, how about Muzzle stays with Elly to make sure no one does anything untoward, and then I take my partner to the hospital to get her meta condition properly diagnosed and then down to the station for her paperwork?"
Go on, deny being friends, you little rats.

Elly is in a fix. She shouldn't know Muzzle, because she is an amnesiac who doesn't know who anyone is. Also, she is a paranoid. if she denies knowing who Muzzle is, she is out of character for trusting him so easily. if she admits to knowing Muzzle, that casts doubt on her amnesiac status.
Unless she made friends with Muzzle somehow after waking up dead?
Except she doesn't even like him; they aren't friends.
Ugh, why would an undead ex-junior scientist at Blackrock be palling around with a... what is Muzzle even pretending to be?
Elly decides to just make this as embarrassing as possible for Muzzle and rolls with, "Sure, Muzzle and I can talk horticulture and decide what kind of cookies we're going to bake for the next meeting of the Horticulture Club. He just loves potted trees."
If in doubt, be a skidplate. This plan is flawless.

"Love might be a bit of a strong word. I find horticulture relaxing. And we agreed I wasn't doing anything cookie-related other than ingredient shopping. Not after what happened last time," Muzzle growls.
He wants to shoot Esprit so, so much.
"Drive safe," he says, nodding to the two policewomen.
