Spinister continues to be unthrilled by just how exposed he is. Hook had better take a can of compressed air to him to get the dust out when Hook is done, or Spinister is going to raid Needleose's stuff and do it himself.
Also, hopefully Hook is grounded and stuff.
Spinister isn't a talktive sort, but since Hook is bothering to explain what he's doing, Spinister manages an, "Uh-huh," out of courtesy. Spinister does like watching. He appreciates that, too.

Is Hook green and purple? Of course he's grounded, and of course he's going to clean Spinister out before he puts the Mayhem back together. Silly Mayhem.
For removing Spinister's cranium, Hook uses one of the heavier needles in combination with the file he's been previously using. Once that armor is set aside, he takes a scan of the Mayhem, once more admonishing Spinister to hold still.
He pauses as he examines eyeballs the mish-mashed together scans that the scanner produces. He's seen some of these bits before... That heavy needle flickers between the Constructicon's fingers, pinning back a clump of wiring in Spinister's throat as Hook leans down to take a closer look at some of the components there.

Hook is also silver, so he could have an off day, perhaps when the stars are aligned just so that the apocalypse is impending.
Spinister continues to hold as still as a dead man, It's a useful skill for when he's sitting a long time in a sniper nest, waiting for the target to come into range. It's also not something he terribly wants to do while lacking his armour.
Has Hook, oh, seen those bits in the way the holoroom plans he found were drafted? It doesn't look like whoever actually designed the holoroom initially had anything to do with Spinister, but whoever recopied the plans might have.

Well, the apocalypse isn't impending today.
The needle slides down a conduit, taps against one of those odd little components that Hook can't quite place the use of. He has seen something like this before, he's sure of it.
"Hm." He steps away and picks up the datapad full of Spinister's schematics, zooming it back out to get a better overall idea of the helicopter. Fingers flicker and flash over the screen as he manipulates the data, trying to find the missing connection that will complete the circuit.
Alas, all he can say after a few minutes of examination is that the design-style is familiar. But there are so many people's schematics in his head right now that he can't pull up exactly what this reminds him of.
This can be examined later. Right now, Spinister probably wants his face back.

Perhaps he's seen them in an experimental materials and physics laboratory? Modulate the bandwidth gap of a material, and it vanishes from sight. Heat and ultraviolet are just light, open up wide, and they'll slip through. Generate exactly the correct countersound, and sound ceases, annihilated. Absorb and deflect in the correct portions, and even radar slips off like suds down the side of a car.
Hook has probably met people with greater passions for materials and optical engineering than Spinister, but it is doubtful that he has ever met someone quite so deeply in denial about the whole affair.
Having a face back would be nice.

Spinister shall have a face! And a chest!
"I've seen your style before," Hook comments as he carefully replaces Spinister's face and encourages the wires to reconnect to it. "Not in Needlenose, he designs himself. Perhaps one of the others from your timeline has also had Mayhem-modifications."
Because, given the number of schematics for Transformers he's looked at recently, what he's remembering from Spinister has to be in one of them.

Spinister isn't stupid, and he's probably brighter than he usually lets on. He thinks about where Hook could have possibly seen anything similar to his style.
Oh, he had to draft those holoroom plans from memory, didn't he? Needlenose is a sweet jet and very good at what he does, but Spinister wouldn't trust him to have the holoroom plans memorised.
Thinking his options through, Spinister seizes on an idea, and he suggests, "Shockwave - my Lord Shockwave - may have made similar modifications to Midnight, Lord Hook." It's a shame Midnight's body is destroyed, and Hook can't check, isn't it?

"Hmm. I will have to examine the pieces of him I still retain then." But not right now. Or, unfortunately, for some time to come as Hook has schematics to divide up and provide access for, a robot-mode to complete the designs of for Hellbender, and training to force onto the people under his command.
Spinister's oddities are rather low-priority.
Hook restores Spinister's chest to his body. "Turn over onto your front."

Spinister would be thrilled to learn that is low priority!
He should probably look into making those pieces of Midnight vanish and plant evidence to make it look like Shockwave did it. Of course, that might take too much time, and Starscream keeps Spinister busy.
Spinister does as bidden, carefully.

Yes, let's make the head of Engineering want to do even more horrible things to the second-in-command. Do Marvel Decepticons just thrive on governmental instability?
With Spinister on his back, Hook circles the table and unlatches the armor on his still covered arm. Once that is done, he initiates the last of the scans he needs to take.
"Once you are completely re-armored, you are free to go, Spinister."

Marvel Decepticons totally thrive on instability.
Hairsplitter just has to point out, "You didn't say we were free to go, Lord Hook."
Singe just facepalms.
Spinister has no excuse for his weapons, really.

"So I didn't."
There are still those Predacon-sized chairs with the straps sitting over there on the counter. Empty.
The first pieces of armor replaced are all the ones that form the back and top of Spinister's head. Then Hook moves onto the arms.

Hairsplitter continues to point things out, "At least he's treating us like actual people, rather than just pieces of Spinister."
Singe continues to be less than thrilled and glares daggers, assault rifles, and small ballistic missiles at the oh-so-helpful Hairsplitter.
Spinister is happy to be having more armour. It makes him less nervous. He does comment, "If you are going to examine them, mind if I stick around?"
Spinister is not terribly fond of wandering off without his guns.

Of course Hook treats them like people! They're Spinister's little transforming guns!
... With a squishy center. He tries not to think about that too much.
"You may stay if you wish." It would actually be preferred to have someone around to answer questions.
And now for the tail-boom and back.

Spinister simply says, "Yeah." It involves less movement than nodding would. In fact, his voicebox involves no moving parts at all.
Singe insists, "But you'll look away, right?"
Spinister doesn't see what it matters, when he can get Singe's own optical feed. Besides, he could make sure Hook isn't doing anything weird. Organics can be so blasted touchy, sometimes.
